If you regularly use Google Docs and you want to attach a live Google Sheet in your Document, you can do that now using the steps in this blog. In this blog, I will be showing you how to Embed a live Spreadsheet into your Google Doc.

Step1: Sample Google Sheet

The Google Sheet I will be using for this blog contains the following details.

  1. Name of the Sales Rep
  2. Region of sales
  3. Quantity of products sold
  4. Total Amount secured

Our plan is to embed this Google Sheet in our Google Doc for a sales meeting.

Step2: Sample Google Doc

This is the Google Doc where we are going to embed the live spreadsheet. After pasting the Google Sheet in the Google Doc, our plan is to update the table in the Google Doc as soon as a change is made in the Google Sheet.

Step 3: Embed the Sheet

Now that we have the Doc and Sheet ready, it's time to embed the Google Sheet in the Google Doc. To do that follow these steps:

  1. Copy the range you want to paste in the Google Doc.

2. After copying the range, move to the Google Doc and paste the range you just copied. On pasting the range, you will see the following.

Here you have the following options:

  1. Link to Spreadsheet: If your data changes constantly and you wish to update it on the Google Doc, you should select the Link to spreadsheet option.
  2. Past unlinked: If you do not want your data to be updated, you can select the Paste unlinked option.

On selecting the options, the Google Sheet has successfully been pasted in the Google Sheet.

Previously, we selected the Link to Spreadsheet option that updates the table in Google Doc if a change is made to the Google Sheet. We are going to check that by first making a change to the Google Sheet(make sure to make the change in the specified).

Here I have changed the sales data for Jake Harper.

If you go back to the Google Doc, you will see an Update button at the top of the table. If you click on update, you will see that the new changes from the Google Sheet have been pasted into the Google Sheet.

Here you can see that the sales data for Jake Harper has been updated in the table.

Summary

I hope you have understood how to embed Google Sheets in Google Docs and how to update them on new changes made in the Google Sheet. You can send your feedback to aryanirani123@gmail.com.
